The Association of Applied Paleontological Sciences (AAPS) offers the following awards to any person nominated by an AAPS member and approved by the board. Nominations for the Charles H. Sternberg Medal and the Charles H. Sternberg Medal will be accepted until November 1st of the calendar year and presented at the annual meeting held in Tucson Arizona. The new Mary Anning Award will be presented anytime the board approves an award.
Charles H. Sternberg Medal – The Charles H. Sternberg Medal was created by the Association of Applied Paleontological Sciences (AAPS) in January of 2003 to honor very special friends and members of our organization who have given a large portion of their life to paleontology.
The Mary Anning Award for Commercial Contributions to Paleontology – The award would be given to one or more individuals as recognition for finding a new fossil specimen (vertebrate, invertebrate, plant or trace fossil), then collecting, preparing, and ensuring that it is either donated or sold to a recognized repository for display and/or study.
The William H. Mason Award – The William H. Mason Award will be awarded to an individual AAPS member or business that has made a significant donation(s) or contribution(s) to a scientific institution or finds a special way to help their fellow man.
